How long has it been since I got tangled up in this mess?

       About two weeks?  Just under?

Either way, I never expected this.  Any of this.  Everything that's happened is flashing before my eyes like scenes from a movie.  The irony, is that in a way it literally is.

They say your life flashes before your eyes prior to death, but it's happening a little too early right now.  At least for me, it's only the things that have happened in the last two weeks, and try as I might, they can't help but to keep playing in my mind, quite vividly as if I'm really reliving the events.

I recall it all starting when I was on my way home from my dad's house, just two days before Christmas.  My emotions were all out of whack due to...well, woman reasons.  Plus watching Frozen for the first time on top of that, and how much it resonated with me, it just really had me all kinds of messed up, and I still don't quite understand why.

Then Elsa showed up.  A fictional character in my world, voiced by a real person, created by other real people, based off another character from an old story tale.  An OC if you will.  Yet, she was real.  She was only fake, fictional, in my world.  But in reality, it turned out that she really is a real person, in her own world, her own dimension, and is here due to some dark magical forces connecting our dimensions together.  She was all in a panic over this evil, The Aesir, yet very slowly and cryptically revealed them to me over the past two weeks.

We clicked immediately, somehow her seeing through my façade over my emotional battles at the time.  I revealed a little about me, probably sounding like a weirdo, but she, like the angel she is, took it all in stride, helping me out more than she probably knows.

We spent the next week getting to know each other more; mainly her getting to know me: my quirks, my insecurities, even some of my personal demons... It just brought us closer as friends, and made us fast sisters.  Though it was weird, her already understanding how my world works, that she's a fictional character here, everything.  It made it a lot easier, but still strange at the same time.

Then came the transportation to Arendelle.  Elsa had control over her own portal somehow, which was extremely odd, but again this whole situation is completely out of my imagination's comprehension.  It was strange enough that she was able to use her powers to fly, though apparently that's something she can only do in my world, when she's fresh out of the portal from Arendelle.  And then the portal itself, it's not in any set place.  It can be used whenever, but only by select people: meaning Elsa, and the Aesir.

Upon arrival to Arendelle, we headed straight to bed, as it was quite late, but soon everything was explained to me, and the true gravity of the situation was revealed.  Then came the training, hah!  What a laugh that was.  It was fun now, but I was really nervous the whole time, and worried about how well I was gonna do.  But then, life always has treated me strangely, especially with my dumb luck with things... I still remember that guard's punch to my head when my own magic powers started trying to screw with me.  I'm just glad Pabbie was able to help things along, even though he had no idea how to teach me how to use them.  Elsa and I tried, and I think I have somewhat of a grasp...but now that I'm staring down the enemy...I wish I'd had time for more training...

       "Kendra!!!"

Elsa's voice resonates loudly in my ear, finally snapping me out of my state of shock.  I find myself shaking quite a lot, and slightly hyperventilating.  I've never had a panic attack in my life, yet I feel as if I'm on the verge of a strong one.

I force my head to move, rigidly like a robot, turning to stare at Elsa, my scared eyes locked on hers.  "Elsa..."  My voice comes out in a scared, breathy whisper, and it's then that I notice just how frigidly cold Elsa's hands are through my clothes.

She swallows hard, turning her gaze back out towards our approaching enemy.  "Well, you wanted to go find them and test your powers out, right?"

Her words remind me of my earlier brashness, my blind determination and stupidity, and they completely break the dam holding back my hyperventilation.  My breath remains fast and shallow as I process her words, the overall situation, the approaching adversary, and my depleted courage.  "I...I-I-I can't do this...!"  I nearly stagger backwards, but Elsa keeps a strong grip on me, somehow keeping me from collapsing onto the cold ground too.

"Kendra, listen to me."  Elsa's voice is about as shaky as my entire body is, enough to make me notice the growing flurries in the air from her growing fear.  "You said it yourself earlier, you'll be fine.  Look," she places a cold hand on my cheek, tilting my head so I'm looking right in her eyes, "I'm right here.  I'll be right beside you.  But you were right, we can't just sit around waiting forever... They're already here, so what little training you have will have to be enough.  Just fight on instincts, and use what you've already learned, but don't be afraid to run if you have to..."  Her voice shakes slightly with her growing emotions.  "I don't want you getting hurt, or—..."

She actually has to stop before completing her sentence, and it somehow calms me down enough to where I place my hand on her shoulder, taking my cue this time.  "Elsa, I'm not gonna get killed.  Don't worry, we're in this together, and we'll somehow stop them."

She takes a deep breath as she reins in her wayward magic, letting it out in somewhat of a scoffing, single chuckle.  "Now who's sounding like who?"

I smile back at her, and take a deep breath of my own to calm myself down.  I gaze out at the encroaching mass of enemies, and swallow hard as I try to take in their numbers.  "How many do you think there are?"

Her eyes scan the large group, her face serious and set for battle.  "This definitely is only a small portion of their numbers..."

"What?!?"  My loud, super high-pitched voice apparently took even Marshmallow by surprise, as he cringes and looks down at me with this....geez what a super odd look, I don't even know how to explain it, or even begin to describe.  It's almost as if my shrill voice hurt his ears or something.  Heck it actually hurt my own ears.

Apparently though it was enough to make Elsa crack a smile and a giggle.  "Don't you worry, we'll get through this toge—"

       BOOM

       "LOOK OUT!!!"

I suddenly shove her out of the way as a huge magic bomb blasts right through where we were just standing, my arms wrapping tight around her as I use my whole body to tackle her aside to safety.  Marshmallow moves simultaneously by snatching us both up and holding us close to his giant body, protecting us from further attacks.

Elsa looks at me with a battle-ready look of determination on her face, but eyes full of love and gratitude.  "That was a close one... Thank you for saving me."  Still in Marshmallow's grasp, and her still in mine from my sudden reaction, she gives me a squeeze while leaning her forehead against mine.  "Are you ready...?"

I take in a deep, calming breath, before smiling back into her deep, blue eyes.  "You're welcome... And yes, I'm as ready as I'll ever be.  Not like we have a choice anyways.  They aren't gonna wait for us."

She chuckles with me, our head's slightly moving together, hardly unaware that we're being jostled as Marshmallow keeps protecting us from their magic shots from the distance.  "Just remember, run for safety if you must."

I pull my head away to roll my eyes, smirking slightly.  "Elsa, I'm not a coward who just abandons their duties to protect those she's meant to protect."

I wink at my icy friend to accentuate my words, and though she opens her mouth to speak, she doesn't get the chance to protest, as we're suddenly thrown from the large snow giant's grasp, landing safely on the soft grass near the shoreline.  Marshmallow roars as his whole body becomes enveloped in ice spikes, and charges for the much closer mass of Aesir scum.

I scramble to my feet, brushing myself off quickly.  "No time for more words.  All we can do now is fight, and pray."

"Right."  The two of us position ourselves in battle-ready stances.

       And so it begins...

Marshmallow is subdued so fast, so easily, it breaks my heart, like a lot, making me feel a little empty inside as the large snow golem lies motionless off to the side, near the mountain path.  I actually shed a tear for the sentient being.  Elsa however, uses it to fuel her powers, completely freezing the fjord like she did in the movie, only this time doing it willingly.  Though it allows the Aesir more freedom to move as they close the ever narrowing gap between us, it also allows us both to have more room as well.  It may seem like a bad idea to some, if not most people, but she only freezes enough of the fjord to give us a battlefield, without dragging any of the town into it.  As it was, the Aesir otherwise would've had to charge through streets and houses to get to us.  This way, there will be little to no collateral damage.

       "Head's up!"  Elsa calls out.

She and I both are forced to be quick on our feet, though it's hard to maneuver as soon as we're forced onto the ice.  Though Elsa is a master with ice, and has no trouble running over the frozen water, I however find myself slipping and sliding.  Through sheer dumb luck, I still somehow manage to dodge the Aesir's magic shots, though it's becoming harder the closer they get...

"Elsa!  You could've made this ice less slick!  I can't get any traction on this mess!"

She grunts as she fires more of her ice towards the enemy, freezing several in place.  "Sorry!  I'm afraid it would also help the Aesir!"

"Good point!  ...YEOW!"  I scream out in surprised pain as one of the attacks finally makes contact with me, knocking me to the ground as I slip on the ice.

"Kendra!!!"  Elsa uses her ice to create a large wall in front of us, blocking any further attacks as she dashes for my side.  "Kendra!  Are you ok?!?"

I groan a little as she helps me sit up, holding my head in my hand as I shake it a little.  "Yeah, I'm ok.  It didn't hurt that bad, but enough of those could cause some major damage..."

Elsa helps me to my feet, keeping a strong grip on my arms while I ensure I still have my bearings, while also keeping me stable with my bad traction on the ice.  "Here..."  She waves one of her hands towards my shoes, and I watch the snowy magic envelop them, before suddenly feeling as if I just shot up an inch.

"What the..."  I lift a shoe to see what she did, and my eyes and mouth widen as I see ice spikes growing from the bottom, giving me the perfect traction I need to stay upright so I can fight and defend myself properly.

"These should help you.  I'm only sorry I didn't think of this sooner..."

"No no, it's ok Elsa, these are great, thanks!"

She chuckles slightly at my happy words, the sounds of the magic blasts echoing harmlessly from the other side of the ice wall.  "Just be careful, ok...?"  She tilts my head down slightly to plant a kiss on my forehead, leaving a crisp, icy feeling behind on my skin.

I grin confidently at her, feeling more ready than I did before.  "I won't let you down sis."

Taken by surprise for a moment, Elsa closes her eyes briefly with a smile, before we share a confident, simultaneous nod.  Though the moment is shattered almost immediately as we hear a crashing sound.

The Aesir are managing to breach the ice wall, but its purpose has already been fulfilled.

Elsa recalls her ice, and we're faced almost immediately with a flurry of arrows, slicing through the air, arcing high before raining down upon us.  As we both start trying to shoot them down, I decide to try out my skills, and throw my hands up, firing blasts of magic at the arrows and destroying them before they can hit us.  But what's most shocking about it to me and Elsa both, is that the blasts are firing from my fists like rapid fire bullets, homing in on their targets and blasting them to smithereens.

       "Heh-hey!  Look!  I did it Els—AGH!!!"

       "KENDRA!!!"

I barely hear Elsa's voice as my knees slam onto the ice, the searing pain in my left shoulder blinding me.  I can barely feel her cold hands on me, trying to check on me, get a response out of me, anything, scared beyond her wits at what she sees.  My vision is super blurry from tears, but the obvious long, thin shape of an arrow sticking out of my shoulder is far too obvious through my misty gaze.  I feel something strange about the arrow, and my instincts scream at me to get it out of my body as soon as possible.

I can hardly make out the blurry shape of Elsa as she gets to her feet and leaves my line of sight, but my gaze is too focused on the arrow stuck in my body.  I grit my teeth as I grab the shaft tightly, and jerk it painfully from deep within my flesh, a loud scream ripping itself from my vocal cords.  I gaze at the length of wood stained in a deep, red crimson for a few seconds, before tossing the bloody arrow aside as I grip my wounded shoulder.  Knowing I need to get back to the battle, I clench my eyes shut tightly, forcing the water in them to converge into a single tear from each eye, dripping onto the ground and allowing my gaze to be clear again.

It's only then that I seem to regain my hearing, and the sounds I hear myself making can only be best described as the grunting screams of a grown man brought to his knees by a serious battle wound.  The pain is unlike anything I have ever felt before, crippling almost, but I can't let it control me.  Elsa needs my help.  I lift my head and watch as she singlehandedly allows her rage to fuel her attacks, already having frozen a large chunk of the numbers near us.  If I had to guess, I'd say the Aesir are now about a quarter to half a mile away now, and still gaining ground, despite Elsa's attacks.  Though she's mowing them down at a more rapid rate over me being injured, her immense protectiveness providing the perfect fuel for her flames of hate.

I steel myself as I stare at my hand, and merely blink at the blood now covering my palm.  "Shoot..."  Less of a word and more of a sound, that one syllable works like a spell, moving me to wipe the blood on my clothes, and plant an ice-spiked shoe on the ice to stand up, grunting as I do so.

Elsa shoots her head around at the unexpected sound, and her anger immediately turns to concern as she sees me get to my feet.  "Kendra!"  Next thing I realize, her hands are on me again, and man are they cold!  Shows just how scared she was from me being shot... I watch as she scrutinizes my wound, cringing as she gingerly touches the area around it.  "Sorry...!  Here, let me help you..."  She doesn't give me much time to ponder her words, before I cry out again in pain from the sudden sensation of her powers.  She works quickly so as to not keep us out in the open like sitting ducks for too long, but using her icy powers, she seals my wound up with a temporary ice patch.  "There, that should get you through this battle... Just please, please be careful...!"

I sniff and clear my throat, finally gazing into her very worried and terrified eyes.  "Sorry Elsa, thought I had 'em all."  My gaze jerks past her as another flurry of arrows is fired at us, and this time I shove her around behind me, trying again with the same magic bullet barrage I tried before.  Second time proves to be more of a charm, as I shoot down every arrow before they can even reach the peak of their arcs in the air.  The Aesir are persistent as they fire another flurry of arrows, and just like before I blast them down with ease.

They finally stop after that flurry, and I let my guard down as they realize that arrows are useless against me.  I smirk at how Elsa's ice patch moves with my flesh, stemming the blood flow quite well and helping to numb the pain.  I turn to face her briefly, planting a fast kiss on her forehead.  "Elsa, you're amazing."  She has no time to react as I scream out again in pain, a few more spots alight with searing fire along my back, the agony showing far too well on my face.  Already knowing what they're from, I merely spin around and try to glare at the small army, ready to take them down.  But I find myself starting to feeling a little lightheaded and dizzy, and also strange in other ways.  It's the same as before with the first arrow, but worse due to there being more now.  I reach around behind me and grip one of the new arrows stuck deep in my back, though find myself having difficulty pulling it out.

"Kendra wait!"  Elsa clasps a hand firmly on my unwounded right shoulder, worried about me removing the weapon without proper medical treatment.

I weakly grunt in pain as I somehow manage to jerk that one arrow out of my back, tossing it aside with shallow breaths.  "Elsa...there's something weird...about these arrows... You have to help me get them out... They're doing something weird to me...!  Something bad...!"

At my words, she takes one look at my face, before understanding, fear, and instincts take her over too.  She grabs the remaining two arrows in each hand, and jerks them out at the same time, causing a cry to rip from my throat.  I catch myself from doubling over, straightening up as I try to catch my breath.  "Thanks... I dunno what's up with those arrows, but there's something weird about them.  Either way, we gotta take these guys out."

"Well you can't do it alone," Elsa reminds me, as she patches up the three new wounds along my back with her ice powers.  She stands beside me and gazes out at the throng of warriors in front of us, both of her hands back on my shoulders to stabilize me, as well as reassure us both.  "And I can't do this alone either.  We need to work together.  They haven't even reached us yet, and already you've been injured."

"Well, that's just how it goes," I chuckle briefly.  "Something tells me they may be as good at hand-to-hand combat as they are with distance fire."

"And how can you tell that?"

I smirk.  "'Cause they aren't shooting arrows or magic blasts anymore, and instead they're starting to draw swords and maces."

She gives my good shoulder a squeeze as she shares my smirk.  "Heh, right."

"...Hang on, I'm gonna try something else."

"Ok.  But be careful..."  Elsa takes one step aside, and watches with awe as I slam my foot onto the ground, a shockwave of energy blasting straight towards the Aesir's forces, bowling all of them over.

       "Ha-hah!  It worked!  Yes!"

Elsa nudges me a little as my attack makes me giddy like a happy child, despite my fresh wounds.  "Took that from me, eh?"

"Heehee, yep!  When you plant your foot on the ground and your ice spreads.  Figured I'd try that myself, though without harming you either."

No sooner do I get the words from my mouth, than a loud sound blares from the midst of the Aesir forces.  It sounds like a large horn of some sorts, making Elsa and I actually have to cover our ears.  It lasts for a good five seconds, before ceasing it's blowing, leaving its echoes to sound throughout the mountain kingdom.  The Aesir slowly get to their feet, now close enough to us that we're able to make out some facial features and muscle tone, and step aside as a single person steps forth.

"Well, well, well... What do we have here...? If it isn't our dear friend, Queen Elsa, the Snow Queen of Arendelle, and a pain in our sides.  What a pleasure to see you have returned from the other world, and without paying us a visit even."

Elsa glares at the man, a low growl rumbling in her throat.  "You're one of those Weaseltown goons the Duke sent after me in my ice castle!"

"It's Weselton!  And because of you, we lost everything!  At least with the Aesir, we're guaranteed our revenge against you, and more riches than we ever could have wanted!"

At this point, my blood is boiling.  To think, that conniving Duke of Weselton and his two goons would stoop so low as to join the Aesir!  What is the world coming to?!?

The bearded thug lifts his oddly gloved hands, and smirks as they start glowing with what can only be described as a menacing, pure evil aura of magic, varying in shades of dark greens, purples, and reds.  I can actually sense the evil coming from the magic, and feel myself and my own magic resonating in response, as if knowing just how much power is behind it.  I barely manage to swallow before he begins to speak.  "I'm afraid I can't allow you, or your strange...pathetic little sidekick, to stand in our way, so this is goodbye my queen!"

He fires a huge blast of dark energy at Elsa so fast, it catches her by complete surprise.  Somehow having anticipated it, I spring into action, shoving her aside out of the way, and throwing my hands automatically out in front of me to try and blast it away.  When my own magic does nothing to his, I realize I don't have any time to dodge.  On pure reflex, I keep my hands out as I squeeze my eyes shut, as if to catch the attack before it hits me, as well as bracing for the impact.

I wait...and I wait...but the moment of impact never comes.

It's only when I finally crack open my eyes, that I see the large magic sphere hovering a few feet in front of me, both it, and my hands, coated in the same, translucent blue aura.  "What...the...heck?"

"Telekinesis..." the bearded Weselton goon breathes out, so quiet that I almost don't hear it.

Completely taken by surprise, I test out his words by moving my hand, and the object moves with it.  I turn my gaze to the goon, and decide to see if I can throw his own attack back at him.  Just as I'd hoped, the magic sphere flies straight for him, and he narrowly manages to get out of the way, the blast hitting the ice and a few of his allies.

Elsa and I share looks with each other, first shock, then giddy joy, as we realize this opens up a whole new level of possibilities.  This time, we give the Aesir no time to regroup, taking our turn at going on the offense.  She tackles one half of the army with her ice magic, as I use my newfound telekinetic abilities to grab Aesir scum after Aesir scum, picking them up and slamming them into each other, knocking them unconscious one after the other.

The remaining warriors finally say to heck with it, and charge at us with roaring battle cries, swords and other weapons held high into the air with their onslaught, set aglow with their magic abilities.  I shoot my red glowing fists in front of me, blasting them with rapid fire magic bullets, rendering more and more of their dwindling numbers useless.  Elsa keeps freezing many of them to the frozen fjord, while I continue using them as guinea pigs for my powers.  At this point, she and I are honestly enjoying ourselves, having gained the upper hand far too easily.  We shoot attack after attack, trying many different things, different tactics, learning things about ourselves and each other through the art of battle.  And it's through the art of battle, that I find myself understanding my own powers far quicker than just with the simple training we were trying.  And I'm loving every second of it.

A familiar sounding roar catches our attention, and it's all we can do not to start crying with joy as Marshmallow rejoins the fray, charging into the Aesir's forces and mowing down a huge chunk of their remaining numbers.  At this point, with Marshmallow back in commission, the battle is nearly won.

As I grab one of the last few goons in my telekinetic grasp, lifting him high in the air, I hear Elsa cry out in pain.  I jerk my gaze over to her, and see red as she grips her arm and staggers in place.  "Elsa!!!"  I rush to her side as she clings to her upper left arm, but she tries to smile at me with that ever-so-graceful face of hers.

"Don't worry about me, it just took me by surprise is all."

       "But Elsa, you're hurt!"

She removes her hand to show me her arm.  "Just a scratch, don't worry; it'll heal."

I sigh in relief as I see just how insignificant the wound really is, just a glancing blow to her upper arm.  Sure it's bleeding and needs treatment, but thankfully it's nothing major at all.  I turn back to the Aesir man still in my grasp, and slam him down against the ice so hard, he actually manages to penetrate the thick boundary, crashing into the icy waters as the ice breaks above him.  I then grab the goon who hurt my Elsa, and do the same to him in another spot, but with so much force, I'd be surprised if he's still alive.

We then take a moment to gaze over the fallen forces, wanting to ensure they're truly down.  Several are indeed still on their feet, but they look as if they're through with this battle, and for the moment, it satisfies us enough to take a breather.  Elsa and I look each other over, marveling at how well we managed to do, as well as coming out of this without any major injuries.  Sure I got shot with four arrows, but it doesn't seem to be life threatening.  Overall, we both are coming out of this relatively unscathed.  We find ourselves lightly panting, nearly chuckling even, as we revel in our victory.

But we let our guard down too soon...

A loud boom is suddenly heard, and we barely have time to look up to see another of those large, dark blasts, fired from the bearded Weselton goon.  I barely have enough time to shove Elsa aside, using my telekinesis to help propel her further to safety, before getting blasted by one of the strongest, most painful attacks I never expected to be blasted with.  The blinding, white hot, searing pain blankets my entire body, coating it like a second skin.  It feels as if I've been dunked in a vat of acid and liquid fire, seeping all the way into my flesh and burning throughout my bones.

The ground crashes hard against my back, my head slamming onto it with such force, I'm unsure if the crack I heard was the ice, or my own skull.  All air is forced from my lungs from the powerful impact, and fear spreads throughout my body as I find myself unable to breathe.  All this happens in such a flash, you could blink and miss it.  I barely suffer this agony for all of a split second, before being swallowed up in a dark, cold, empty blackness, my consciousness stolen from me as my body sinks down into the icy cold depths of the Arendelle waters.
Update: I did some major edits to this, and I gotta admit I love this much better than how it was before, and I hope you guys like this better too! =D

Here it is finally!  Chapter 18!  Now the longest chapter to date!  I'm sorry if it sucks, or isn't as good as I'd originally hoped it would be... TwT Writing battles is hard, and dialogue with it, plus mom kept being such a distraction, but I really wanted to finish this, so I tried, and I'm sorry guys. TwT

I'm most certainly interested to learn how Kendra's power works. As well as seeing what will happen to Kendra and by extension Elsa. Certainly left us with a cliff hanger.
